Is networking essential to advance at Phoenix Group?

In short, it may not be essential if you are in a specialised role in a specialised team with limited connections to other teams and you can progress within that team.

Teams like this are quite limited and niche in Phoenix and most teams and departments interact and engage with each other.

Networking helps with this to understand how teams collaborate and helps you identify opportunities and roles in other teams to progress your career.

For actuarial students, we have a rotation scheme whereby students can gain experience in a range of teams within the business. Building a network this way helps you understand the business and helps you make longer term career decisions and where you may want to end up specialising.
