David B.
Senior Risk Manager
Probably the most valuable thing I have learned from both my current and preceding roles is business acumen. My roles have generally been risk, compliance and audit in nature which exposes you to a wide range of business areas and associated risks which can be financial or operational in nature. This was supplemented by a period in a business strategy type role, and collectively these experiences mean I have a good understanding of the business as well as external market factors and the regulatory landscape. I feel this enables me to appreciate the 'bigger picture' and better understand the risk landscape within which we operate, and by default add value in the work I do.
